Monocot roots are fibrous, which means they create a dense network of thin roots that grow from the stem and stay near to the soil's surface. The xylem and phloem tissue bundles are organised in a circle around the core pith, that is made up of ground tissue. Monocot roots have more vascular structures than dicot roots.
