The epidermis, mesophyll, and vascular tissues are visible in the interior anatomy of dicotyledonous leaves. Epidermis refers to the outer layer of cells. The mesophyll is the ground tissue that lies between the two epidermal layers. It is classified as Palisade parenchyma or Spongy parenchyma. Vascular bundles are joined, collateralized, and closed. A dense covering of thin-walled parenchymatous cells surrounds each vascular bundle. This layer is referred to as the border parenchyma or bundle sheath.
